Summer Learning Journey Week Two: Popular Culture – The Silent Movie

I did not like this silent film. First of all I hate that it's silent it does have background music but I did not like the ever. Also it doesn't have any colour and then big words just pop up out of nowhere. You don't even know their talking until big words pop up. I dislike this version of filming and I am happy that films this day have colour and sound.

  1. Hey Makaea,

I agree with you, we do have advanced technology than the olden days therefore we are able to watch movies that are colourful, interesting, and with good music and sound system. Back then, people did not have the same technology like we have today. They could only make black and white movies with back ground music and some sound effects!

However, back in early 1900s, people enjoyed watching black and white movies because otherwise they only had books for entertainment! Would you rather read books or watch a black and white movie?

Also, before the invention of moving images, they only had still images and made it into a movie! Can you imagine watching a movie with no moving pictures with subtitles?

I wonder what kind of technology will be invented in the future? What do you think the cinema would be like in 2100? Do you think it's going to be similar to what we have today? I would love to hear your own thoughts and opinions!

    Happy holidays!
