Summer Learning Journey Week Two Making a Fashion Statement

The outfits that people wore in the late 1940s are very different to the outfits we wear now. Women wearing hats and gloves in their day to day outfits men wearing hats and suits all day. I would prefer the outfits we wear today. The outfits they wore back then must of gotten hot with all the layers of clothes. But that is just my opinion.

Summer Learning Journey Week Two VE Day!

If it was me I would invite my family over. We can run around and jump on the trampoline. We would eat hamburgers, sausages, patsies, ribs and chops. We would probably go to the park and play touch or ride our bikes. Then at night we would roast marshmallows and put them in the middle of chocolate biscuits.

Summer Learning Journey Week Two Women at Work

One day I was walking along the deck of the ship when I hear a loud bang. I start to run as I see smoke coming from the far end of the ship. I run towards the room where your patients are waiting to receive treatment from the doctor. Just as I arrive at the door to their room I hear another loud bang and I turn slowly around. I see man laying down in a pool of blood I recognised him. It was Benjamin we where childhood friends I started to cry. I went inside and grabbed a first ad kit. I ran to him as fast as I could. I went on my knees I was shaking him and saying "wake up, wake up!" he was died. I held him by the shoulders and dragged him the room where the patients where. I could hear something from out side I looked through the window. "BANG!" I blacked out and woke up in the Hospital. I was in a coma for two years Benjamin already had his funeral. It's hard living life without Benjamin.

Summer Learning Journey Week Two: A Call to Arms

Lloyd Trigg is the only serviceman to have been awarded the VC on the ‘recommendation’ of an enemy. Despite being hit repeatedly by anti-aircraft fire, Trigg pressed home his attack and fatally damaged the German submarine with depth charges. His crippled Liberator then crashed into the sea with the loss of all eight crew. German survivors praised Trigg’s courage after they were picked up by an Allied ship. Their evidence was instrumental in the New Zealander being awarded a posthumous VC.

Summer Learning Journey Week Two An Eventful Experience

By the mid-1939, Japan and China had already been engaged in full-scale war for nearly two years. The city of Tianjin had been captured by Japanese forces on 30 Jul 1937, but the Japanese Army had avoided the foreign concessions in order to prevent diplomatic complications. On 9 Apr 1939, a Chinese-national who was a manager and a customs official for the Japanese-controlled Federal Reserve Bank of North China, a man considered to be a collaborationist, was assassinated by Chinese resistance fighters at the Grand Theater. The Japanese soon named six Chinese men as the killers, and announced that they were hiding in the British concession. The Japanese Army demanded them to be handed over, and the British police complied, though asking the Japanese not to torture them and to return them in five days. Ignoring the first part of the agreement, the Japanese tortured the four men that the British police turned over, getting two of them to confess. Five days later, the Japanese returned the four men to the British concession as promised.

Summer Learning Journey Week Two Dealing with Stress

Summer Learning Journey Week Two Crossing the Tasman

As I aboard the Southern Cross
Twenty minutes until left off
We wave and say our last goodbyes
Tears fall from my eyes
Left off where going up to the sky
Ice and heavy rain start to come from behind
My stomach drops right to the ground
I can feel Butterfly's in my stomach flying around
As what felt like years we finally land
I feel safe and sound
Now I can eat my Favorited snack a Harsh Brown
I go to rest my head
On a comfy king size bed
I can't wait to run around and play
Goodbye for now see you another day

Summer Learning Journey Week 2 Art Deco

I give this Art Deco a 4 out of 5 I like the shading of it and how realistic it looks. I didn't give it a five because I have this weird felling about it. the way the woman looks. It looks like she has cold dead eyes. So that's only what I think anyway.

Summer Learning Journey Week Two: Popular Culture – The Silent Movie

I did not like this silent film. First of all I hate that it's silent it does have background music but I did not like the ever. Also it doesn't have any colour and then big words just pop up out of nowhere. You don't even know their talking until big words pop up. I dislike this version of filming and I am happy that films this day have colour and sound.

Summer Learning Journey Week Two In Flanders Fields

I think the poem is very touching I really like how it rhymed. I bet those who lost their loved ones must go to the Anzac ceremony every year. I am happy that the war is over. We are lucky that we live in a safe country. To those who lost their loved ones they served our country. they are all looking down on us. Lest We Forget.

Summer Learning Journey Week Two The Right to Vote

I think it is unfair how women where not allowed to vote. Did men under underestimate women at the time. I'm happy that now women are allowed to vote because that means I can vote when I'm older. I'm also happy that women's voices can be heard. I give Kate Shepard a huge thanks for getting women to vote.

Summer Learning Journey: Week 2 Murcia Cathedral

When the Christian king Jaime I the Conqueror conquered the city, in spite of the existing pact with the Muslims of the city that prevented destroying any mosque, the king Jaime I took the Great Mosque or Aljamía to consecrate it to the Virgin Mary, since he had the custom to offer a mass to Our Lady whenever he conquered a village. The cimentation of the cathedral begun in the 13th century, in the same place where the great mosque stood. In 1385 the laying of foundations began and in 1388 the first stone was laid. But it was not until 1394 that the construction began, which would be finished in October 1467. Nevertheless, the cathedral continued to grow until the 18th century, which means that the cathedral is made of a variety of artistic styles.
