Hurumanu - Climate Change

Climate Change
Aim: To look at the causes of climate change and how to prevent it.

As you watch the video answer these questions:

What is our greatest threat in thousands of years?
Flooding and the sea levels rising and heat waves.

How do we see climate change affecting the globe?
Natural resources and homes will be destroyed.
  1.   Flooding
  2.   Stronger Storms
  3.   Air pollution
  4.   Heat waves

What is needed to change history?
    Urgent action

Is climate change a man made disaster?
Yes because of our use of fossil fuels.

Dramatic action must be made in the next __ years to change it?
    10 years

    Why is our climate changing?
Because of factory and human use of fossil fuels.

What is causing the warming trend of the climate?
The fossil fuels letting off Carbon Dioxide that creates a warmth blanket around the earth.

    What is the main problem?
    Heat waves / climate change.

    What are examples of these?
    Heat waves and Droughts

Burning fossil fuels releases what gas?
    Carbon Dioxide

How much hotter now is our world?
    1 Degree Celsius

What do we call this global warming?
    Climate change

How is this affecting creatures / animals like bats?
The animals can not adapted to their habitats climate changing.

What percentage of species are near extinction?
    %8

How could this effect the world ecosystems?
Ecosystems could collapse and break. Leaving the inhabitants having no home.

What global change was seen and recording breaking last year?
Record breaking wild fires in West America.

How is climate change affecting our weather systems?
    1. Getting more storms
    2. Expanding moister in oceans which causes more rain.
    3. Heating temperatures causing droughts.

What is another effect of climate change?
    Animals dying

What will happen if the ice melts in Antarctica and the Arctic?
Sea levels will rise the water would then cover island nations.

    How does this affect people?
People could loss their homes and their families.

What other things affect oceans change?
Oceans are absorbing carbon dioxide, which is rapidly causing it to become more acid.

What does too much heat do to the coral?
The heat warms the water which makes the water unlivable for the coral.

Why did some industries not want to stop burning fossil fuels?
They don't care about the earth and are filled with greed and just want the money.
